As a company providing Database Health Checks to a rapidly growing customer base, we saw an opportunity to modernise and scale our process. While our original methods were effective, they required significant time and manual effort from our DBAs. To maintain efficiency, improve customer experience, and support our expanding client base, we sought a more advanced, scalable solution.
To achieve this, DSP developed a C# Web Application integrated with Power BI visualisations and Cloud functionality. This innovative application transformed the process by enabling remote monitoring of entire database estates and centralising all customer data into a single, accessible portal.
Our solution included:
- Remote Monitoring and Recommendations: Our application allows us to track customer database metrics and produce relevant recommendations based on the findings without on-site intervention.
- Integration of Power BI Visualisations: We incorporated Power BI charts to present critical metrics, including CPU usage, projected disk space, database size, and more. These visualisations provide actionable insights and a clear overview of database health.
- Cloud Integration: Customers can log in to the portal at their convenience to access a comprehensive overview of their entire database estate. This self-service capability enhances transparency and empowers customers to manage their data more effectively.
The new Health Check Portal has dramatically improved our operational efficiency and significantly reduced the time required to complete tasks, enabling us to meet the growing demand from over 200 customers. Additionally, the portal's self-service capabilities allow customers to independently conduct health checks using their in-house DBAs. This has opened the door to new contract models where customers pay solely for portal access, providing them with both cost savings and control over their database management.
By automating and streamlining the health check process, we have successfully enhanced scalability, reduced workload for our DBAs, and delivered greater value to our customers.
